To our Dear Families,

As I sat in the passenger seat of my car, I was reminded of how quickly time flies by. One of my twins who once wore tiny, little onesies was now behind the wheel, 15 years old and driving us home from our camping trip.

Although time flies, it is important to collect and remember the milestones and memories along the way. I am very fortunate to enter my second year as principal of James Madison Charter Academy, a community that is truly amazing and truly unique. As I reflected on my first year, I was pleased to recollect memories of our community: from the chili cook-off, to the talent show, to Trunk-or-Treat, to grilling hotdogs amongst laughter and good conversations as we had our final family night of the year last year.

I am really looking forward to the memories that will be made this year. Our 2025-2026 school year is set up with many things to be excited about! Our teachers are very excited to return to a strong focus on project-based learning. In fact, each one of our teachers is planning some very creative projects that your student will participate in so that he/she learns the material, but also learns real life skills like communication and collaboration. Our middle school students will continue to benefit from daily intervention time in which students may receive specialized help in Math or Language Arts. We are also excited to continue our service learning projects which allow our students to investigate issues in our community that are important to them. Then, as a class, they will decide how to do something about the issue.

As we prepare to enter this new school year, we would like to thank you for enrolling your student in James Madison Charter Academy. We look forward to the new memories and the new horizons we will reach together.
